Her parents go to find water for the family and never come back, leaving Alyssa in charge of defending her house against looters and keeping her brother safe. But when the water stops entirely, Alyssa’s whole world is turned upside-down. Long showers and gardens are a thing of the past with water rations enforced throughout the country. The book was also a little drawn out and the characters became very predictable towards the end, which took away from the halfway decent climax of the book.Īlyssa isn’t unfamiliar with drought she’s been living in one for a while now. The characters of this book made me extremely uncomfortable but the idea behind the story itself was good and actually feasible given the climate change occurring right now.
